For months, I suffered with deep sharp pain in my arm and hand that would awaken me around 3:00 am. Even though I took medication, the pain would last for at least an hour. My medical doctor orderd an MRI which revealed a herniated disc in the neck. He sent me to a neurosurgeon who scheduled me for surgery. My daughter had good results using a Chiropractor and kept encouraging me to find a Chiropractor in Alexandria. An acquaintance mentioned to me how she had been helped at Old Towne Chiropractic Services by Dr. DeYoung so I set up an appointment.
My education began at the first visit. The office staff was friendly. Dr. DeYoung listened to my main complaint, and asked about other pains I experienced. My examination was very thorough and the x-rays of my spine showed misalignments. Dr. DeYoung acquainted me with the Logan Method and the philosophy of Chiropractic.
The pain that brought me in is completely gone! I feel less fatigue, have better balance and am walking easier.

I had successful experiences with Chiropractors in Vermont, so when I developed a severe case of sciatica in my left leg I decided to see the Chiropractor in my Optimist Club. The office was convenient and attractive and the staff was charming. The initial consultation and exam was thorough and it was everything I had hoped for. I am pleased to say I made a complete recovery and I am very grateful to Dr. DeYoung for her display of interest, concern and fine treatments. I happily recommended her to a valued friend who also found her very helpful.

Having had a bad experience with a Chiropractor on my insurance plan, when I developed really bad back pain, I asked a friend who she went to for Chiropractic treatment. To my advantage and great fortune I misunderstood which clinic she said. I instead went to see Dr. DeYoung and I was so pleased with Dr. DeYoung and her treatment. She is not your typical bone cracker Doc. She has magic fingers. When she just touches knots or pressure points they seem to start relaxing right away. I cannot begin to tell you how professional, helpful, relaxing and nice Dr. DeYoung is. With my job, standing and labor intensive as it is, she made it possible for me to do my job.

In early March 1999, I slipped and fell on an icy parking lot. As a result of this injury, I had back, neck and shoulder pain and migraine headaches. The medical doctor I saw prescribed pain killers and muscle relaxants, but I found I was not able to work a full day on the medications.
My boyfriend who was living in MD, recommended I see a Chiropractor and his Chiropractor referred me to Dr. Karen DeYoung at Old Towne Chiropractic Services. Shortly after starting to see Dr. DeYoung, I was able to quit taking the prescription drugs and could work a full day without migraines. Also, I noticed my sinus problems improved and I experienced an improvement in my overall health and well being.
My boyfriend later moved to Virginia and began seeing Dr. DeYoung for the purpose of general health maintenance. In 2001, my boyfriend and I were wed and we each consider Chiropractic an important componenet to promoting good health in our busy lives.

In 1997, after having been in a car accident, I first received Chiropractic treatments at another Chiropractic office. Later, I utilized Chiropractic care for periodic relief of chronic lower back pain and knee problems.
On a Saturday in July of 2005, just before leaving on a well deserved cruise, I pulled a rib out. It was just unbearable for me. Knowing I had to do something about it I began asking and calling around for recommendations. Old Towne Chiropractic Services had Saturday hours and was willing to handle my case on a temporary basis. Dr. DeYoung was very thorough and provided gentle but firm adjustments. I was able to go on my cruise without pain. Later, after returning from my trip, I decided to undergo a more comprehensive program of care for my chronic lower back pain and knee problems. I am now on a supportive care schedule, taking less pain meds then ever before. As an ICU nurse, mobility is important and I am now able to do my job without having to rest so often.

I having nothing but good things to say about Old Towne Chirpractic. I have herniated discs which could theoretically be terrible problems for me, but regular chiropractic with Dr. Karen DeYoung keeps me active and comfortable. I jog, swim, and teach young children at an age when many people are slowing down and getting joint replacements. I owe all this to my regular chiropractic care at Old Towne Chiropractic.

When I lived in Hawaii, I found regular chiropractic care to be a great benefit in my life. After I moved to Alexandria, I found myself stuck on the couch and in a lot of pain for a few days.I do not like taking a lot of medicine and realized I’d probably thrown my back out.I researched online for a chiropractor in the northern Virginia area and selected Old Towne Chiropractic Services. The office was inviting and everyone was very helpful and friendly.Dr. DeYoung listened carefully to what I said and did a very thorough exam.In a relatively short time I was able to function normally on a daily basis, and since I have been continuing with a regular supportive care chiropractic adjustment schedule I have noted increased mobility and flexibility in my neck and back.

While driving down to Atlanta to see my parents, I leaned back and my lower back “caught.”I was in terrible pain the next day.One of my parent’s neighbors suggested I see their chiropractor, which I did several times over the next few days.Because I knew Dr. DeYoung from a group of women business owners I was a part of at that time, I knew just who to see when I returned to Alexandria. When I contacted her on my return to Alexandria, she showed immediate concern for my condition and explained the procedures involved in getting my spine healthy again.Dr. DeYoung clearly knows what she is doing when it comes to spinal health; not only did take care of my initial problem, with regular spinal adjustments she has kept me pain-free, limber, energetic and happy.

I decided to pursue chiropractic help once I started feeling chronic pain in my back. My back was suffering from the years of football and lacrosse I played throughout high school. Dr. DeYoung has been a friend of the family for many years so I decided to consult her for help. Dr. DeYoung is very friendly and very knowledgeable on what she does. Her office is bright and has a very friendly feel to it as well. After she looked at my spine she determined that I had a very rare spinal subluxation that was causing me pain. With regular adjustments I have become free of these pains. I plan on continuing to receive chiropractic care throughout my life because I now know what a huge help it can be.
